We understand what is at stake.
Making and releasing music takes time, money, courage and an extraordinary amount of persistence. HMG was created from lived experience of that reality. We know how difficult it can be to find meaningful opportunities, understand where royalties go and feel that independent music is being properly valued.
Our aim is practical: help more New Zealand music reach real audiences, give businesses a direct way to support the artists they play, and return the royalties attributable to participating repertoire to its creators.
Joining HMG does not guarantee playlist placement. Opportunities depend on the music, the setting and each participating business. The artist onboarding form explains the permissions involved, and HMG will seek further approval for opportunities outside the agreed background-music scope.
